OUR SERVICES

At Dolphins Optometrists, we provide a wide array of services, utilising the latest technology and practices. We are committed to using the latest developments to ensure that we provide the best possible care to our clients.

EYE EXAMINATIONS

We want your visit to our clinic to be as thorough and informative as possible, so your examination will be unhurried and exhaustive. Your optician or optometrist will take the time to check your eyes for any signs of deterioration or disease and to assess your prescription and vision health. Every patient needs different amounts of time depending on why they have come to see us, and so there is always enough time allocated to address your needs. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to ask your optician or optometrist. We want you to be fully informed about your eye health, and we appreciate your trust in us.

When visiting our practice, we ask clients to bring any glasses and spare pairs that you are currently using to show your optician. Additionally, if you’re a contact lens wearer, arrive wearing your lenses. We also ask for clients to bring any medication that they are on. This ensures that we are completely aware of your situation, thus allowing us to provide an accurate diagnosis and thus prescription. This guarantees that clients get the best care possible, which is what is most important to us.

CONTACT LENSES

At Dolphins Optometrists, we strive to remain on the cutting edge of technology. As a result of the technological developments, we know that almost anyone can benefit from contact lenses.

With contact lenses, you can enjoy your activities without having to worry about your vision. Whether you’re playing sports or just going about your day, contact lenses provide excellent peripheral vision and won’t steam up when you enter a room. Additionally, many people aged 40+ struggle with near vision; multi-focal lenses can provide a solution to this common problem and avoid the need for reading glasses.

Dolphins Optometrists offers a full range of contact lens services, from fittings and follow-ups to repairs and replacements. We also offer a variety of lens types, including disposable, colour and multifocal contact lenses, so you can find the perfect option for your needs. Our clinicians utilise the latest technology to diagnose your needs and requirements. This allows us to prescribe the correct lenses to ensure that they support your vision and remain easy and comfortable to use.

We also offer free contact lens trials and comprehensive contact lens packages to maximise our clients’ comfort and the convenience of wearing contacts.

An initial contact lens consultation is priced at £60. Follow-up appointments are then priced from £30.

ORTHOKERATOLOGY

Orthokeratology, also known as Ortho-K, is an innovative way of helping to control Myopia (short-sightedness). It can be employed even if your Myopia has stabilised. It is a non-invasive procedure that involves wearing custom-made gas permeable contact lenses overnight. This gently reshapes your cornea, which results in improved vision during the day.

At Dolphins Optometrists, we are far more than your local optician. We utilise the latest technology and practices to undertake procedures such as Ortho-K to help our clients’ vision. By utilising Ortho-K, we find that our clients are often amazed by the results of this practice. We are proud to offer this revolutionary procedure and would love to help you!

As well as Ortho-K, Dolphins Optometrists also has a close relationship with No7 Contact Lenses. They are a UK-based contact lens lab that designs and makes lenses to your exact specifications. Using state of the art technology, the “Medmont E300 Topographer”, we can map the shape of all elements of your eye to ensure that the lenses are the perfect fit. This means you can be confident that you’re receiving the best possible service and care that is suited to your requirements, thus maximising the results we see!

FRAMES BY OUR OPTICIAN

When visiting us, Julian, your optician, will advise you on the best frames and lenses to suit your requirements. At Dolphins Optometrists, we understand that style is incredibly important. Whilst we are dedicated to providing the best possible solutions to see results as your optician, we do not sacrifice aesthetics.

We pride ourselves on being able to provide quality products from lens companies such as RodenstockZeiss and Leica. We select our suppliers carefully to ensure that the lenses we provide are of a high quality and are as comfortable and effective as possible. Our range of eyewear is also exceptional, with brands such as LindbergSilhouette and Maui Jim. These brands are incredibly stylish and durable, ensuring that your glasses or sunglasses fit and look great for a long time. We believe that this is incredibly important as feeling and looking great is incredibly important.

Customer satisfaction is incredibly important to us. As your optician, Julian can utilise his decades of experience to ensure that we find the perfect frames together.

RETINAL IMAGING

We are devoted to remaining at the cutting edge of science. This is a value that sets Dolphin Optometrists apart from many other opticians. We are constantly working to improve our services and provide the best care possible for our patients. Whether it’s through new technology or additional training for our staff, we’re always looking for ways to improve.

One way in which we practice this is through retinal imaging. We are proud to utilise an ultra-wide-field retinal imaging machine (Optos), and a structural layer analyser (Zeiss OCT). These are both revolutionary pieces of technology and enable us to comprehensively map our clients retinas and provide a precise diagnosis

OPTOS

Optos’ optomap images are 200 frames wide – traditional optomap images are just 45 frames. Unsurprisingly, this enables us to map our clients’ retinas far more effectively and in much more detail. This enables us to effectively identify a range of conditions, including diabetes-related changes to the eye, blood pressure and tears or detachments. Importantly, utilising this technology allows us to spot issues early, giving us as much time as possible to provide a solution and avoid permanent damage.

ZEISS OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) measures the layers of the retina. This is a simple, non-invasive test that lasts for a couple of seconds. However, it is particularly comprehensive and effective in identifying any issues early and allows us to deal with them. OCT is often used to identify or monitor issues such as glaucoma, diabetes and degeneration.

By embracing technology through the Zeiss OCT, in our retina imaging, we can effectively map clients’ eyes. This gives us the best possible chance to identify issues early. This is incredibly important when we consider the eyes. We cannot afford to neglect them, so utilising technology ensures that we give ourselves the best possible chance.

TEAR CLINIC

Sometimes, our eyes can have tears without us even noticing. The symptoms often include dry, itchy, watery and irritable sensations. Hopefully, it’s nothing, but it’s certainly better to be safe than sorry! At Dolphins Optometrists, we have a vast amount of experience in dealing with eye tears, having provided this service since 2017 and have seen countless successful treatments.

Tear Clinic appointments are a specialist-led service.

Some of the factors that we take into account when treating eye tears include your lifestyle, diet, and surrounding environmental factors, as well as your general health. We believe that it’s important to identify all possible causes of your discomfort to provide you with the best possible treatment.

Our sophisticated equipment allows us to assess the quality of your natural tears and we utilise specialised microscopes to examine the structures of your eyes and eyelids. We also utilise the BlephEx to clean your eyelids’ pores to prevent dirt from scratching or irritating your eyes. Once we understand the health of your eye through these procedures, we will develop a bespoke plan with you. This is an important procedure, so we allow up to 75 minutes. This ensures that we can get the best possible diagnosis regarding the health of your eye, and thus provide treatment.

We will then advise you to receive regular treatment, as well as prescribe eye drops. Our bespoke care plans will include guidance on when and how to care for your eyes. We schedule follow-up appointments to track your progress and monitor the health of your eyes. This allows us to identify the effectiveness of treatment and determine whether our clients require extra care.
